Online counselling can assist you with...
Online counselling is a confidential and convenient way to overcome the challenges that you are struggling to work through on your own.
Based on the challenges I've assisted other people work through, I'm confident that online counselling can help you with:
* Getting unstuck and finding a pathway to a more positive future
* Working through feelings of numbness, emptiness and ambivalence to increase your hope for the future and find a sense of purpose
* Working through relationship difficulties to create healthy, enriching relationships
* Working through overwhelming distressing emotions (such as anger, worry, betrayal, grief, anxiousness or depression) so that you feel you are in control of your emotions rather than the other way around
* Working through self-esteem issues and self-doubt to be able to be the best version of yourself
* Working through feelings of stress and burnout to achieve greater balance in life
You may identify as having a mental health diagnosis or you may not. My focus in online counselling is on how you make meaning of your experiences, not on a label that may have been assigned to you.
If you are experiencing significant mental health challenges that require hospitalisation from time to time, or have thoughts of suicide, online counselling may not be appropriate as your only form of mental health support. If in doubt feel free to get in touch to discuss your needs.
What to expect from online counselling with Cassie Causton
My approach to online counselling is holistic.
I recognise that the challenges that we experience exist within the context of who we are as a whole person. Our mind, body, spirit and environment are constantly interacting to create our sense of self and our experience of reality.
I seek to understand what is happening from your perspective and look for opportunities to share practical tools and strategies that you can draw on now, and in the future, to create the results that you are looking for.
My approach to online counselling is integrative.
I recognise that there are no single, absolute truths when it comes to mental health and wellbeing. We need to draw on the best of the various bodies of knowledge that exist. We need to value multiple ways of knowing and recognise expertise in all its forms. Most importantly, I help you to connect with your own expertise and knowledge of what works best for you.
As a counsellor I see that my role is to create a supportive environment where you feel valued, respected and heard.
I understand that one size does not fit all, and as such, I do not have one single approach to counselling that I draw on. Rather I draw on a range of different theories, models and practice approaches to be able to adapt to your needs.
The most common bodies of knowledge that I integrate in counselling are: the philosophy of recovery; strengths-based, person-centred and solution-focussed approaches; cognitive behaviour therapy; acceptance and commitment therapy; elements of mindfulness and positive psychology; and somatic and meta-health concepts.
I am an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with the Australian Association of Social Workers. You can find out more about my professional experience as a social worker and why I created Holistic & Integrative here.
